Sharon Danks is an environmental planner and a Principal of Bay Tree Design, Inc., co-founded in June 2007 with colleagues Lisa Howard and Arden Bucklin-Sporer.  Bay Tree Design, Inc. offers environmental planning, landscape architecture and horticultural design services for residential, commercial, and educational settings.  Our work seeks to create beautiful, functional spaces that reflect ecological design principles, green building practices, and edible and native planting palettes.

Before co-founding Bay Tree Design, Inc., Sharon ran her own consulting practice, EcoSchool Design.  Sharon's recent professional work focuses on facilitating participatory master planning processes for greening schoolyards, and emphasizes the use of site-specific ecology, edible landscape elements, and green building materials.  She is currently working with schools in the San Francisco Bay Area to help transform their asphalt-covered school grounds into vibrant, multi-faceted environments for ecological learning and play.

Prior to starting EcoSchool Design in 2001, Sharon worked for several environmental and educational organizations in San Diego, San Francisco and Washington, DC.  In addition to a MLA-MCP from UC Berkeley, Sharon holds a Professional Certificate in Natural Resource Management from UC San Diego Extension and a BA from Princeton University.
